SC Reserves Order On Accused’s Right To Inspect Unrelied Evidence

The Supreme Court has reserved its order on whether an accused can inspect unrelied documents seized by the investigating agency before charges are framed.

The case concerns Devangana Kalita in the Delhi riots larger conspiracy case. The Delhi Police argued that inspection should be permitted only at a later stage, while the defence argued that access to such material is essential for a fair trial.

A Bench of Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice Vipul M. Pancholi heard the matter.
